Google Maps Reimagined: Crafting Interactive, Animated Experiences
Maps are part of many real-life applications, and with its robust free-tier offering, Google Maps has become ubiquitous. While it works great for common usages, it comes with significant limitations: static visuals, basic gestures, and limited support for Jetpack Compose. For developers aiming to create captivating user experiences, these are serious constraints.
But what if we could break free from these constraints? What if we could breathe life into maps, making them dynamic, interactive, and truly alive?
Join me on a journey to bring maps to life with animated markers, real-time collision handling, stick-to-screen markers, and seamless dynamic tile rendering. To keep everything smooth and jank-free, we'll have to dive into map rendering, master Web Mercator projection, and tackle many performance challenges.
